Founding Father Edward Lawrence Curran passed away this day in 1957. Regarding Father Curran, born on February 14, 1879 in East Bridgewater, Ma. He was the manager of the baseball team and left tackle on the football team. He was also the Vice-President of Bridgewater’s athletic association and class historian of section C for his graduating class. A founding Father of Kappa Delta Phi, he served as Vice-President. After graduating from Bridgewater in 1901, he went on to earn his Ph.D.

Soon after this he became superintendent of Boston Newboy’s Club. Also during his post graduate career, he taught at the School of Sciences at Fordham University as well as being the Sales manager at American Oil Company in Boston.

Later on in his career he moved to New York City where he became a registrar at the Woolworth Building. After living in New York for his last few years of work, he moved back to Boston where he retired. Edward Curran passed away on January 5, 1957. He was laid to rest in the St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, which is located in Bridgewater Massachusetts.

On May 14, 1880 one of the fourteen founding fathers of Kappa Delta Phi National Fraternity was born.

Zeta Chapter of Kappa Delta Phi National Fraternity at U Maine Farmington founded May 7th, 1938 at U Maine Farmington in 1931.

While Currently classified as an Inactive Chapter we are dedicated to reviving the long and rich history of Fraternalism at U Maine Farmington.

Iota Chapter of Kappa Delta Phi National Fraternity at University of Southern Maine was founded on May 7th, 1938. The chapter is currently in good standing and continues to exemplifies the best of the core values of Kappa Delta Phi.

Both Upsilon Chapter at UMass Lowell and Tau Chapter at Castleton State College of Kappa Delta Phi were founded on March 12th in 1968.

Although classified as inactive, both chapters still have a strong alumni base and we hope to reactivate them.

Founding Father Alfred Kingsbury Lowe was born on October 28 1877 in Worcester Ma. He served on the Executive Committee and as Vice-President of Kappa Delta Phi. His year of graduation from Bridgewater was 1900. He was the principal of the Renfrew School in Adams Ma.

Alfred Lowe passed away on March 6, 1930 and is buried in West Boylston Ma.

On March 3rd 1950 Kappa Chapter of Kappa Delta Phi Fraternity was founded at Southern Connecticut State University.

On March 1st, 1972 The Alpha Alpha chapter of Kappa Delta Phi National Fraternity at the University of Maine was founded. On December 18 2005 the Chapter was refounded by 7 men under the leadership of Ryan Barns, a Mu chapter brother who transferred to UMaine, and the supervision of National Board members, active and alumni representatives from Rho Chapter and Mu chapter.

Founding Father of Kappa Delta Phi National Fraternirty Sumner Webster Cushing was born Februray 28th in 1920  in Ridge Hills (South Hingham), Massachusetts. During his time at Bridgewater, he was a member of the Normal Club as well as the team manager for the football team. He also was president of section B of his graduating class.
