Nu Chapter Participates in Local Walk for Camp

Kappa Delta Phi

On Saturday, April 26, the Acttive and Alumni Brothers of Kappa Delta Phi National Fraternity, Nu Chapter at Thomas College participated in a walk to benefit the Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderer’s out of Waterville, Maine. The brothers helped by raising money and awareness for the Maine Children’s home in the months prior to the walk.

The purpose of the walk was to raise enough money to send 150 underprivileged children to summer camp for a week during the summer. As of the day of the walk, $10,000 had already been raised; and, it was estimated that another several thousand had been raised by the end of the walk. It appears that the Maine Children’s Home is well on the way to achieving its goal for this summer.

The Maine Children’s Home serves the community of Waterville in several ways by providing “a Teen Parent School Program for pregnant and parenting teens; The Children's Place, a comprehensive early childcare and education facility; an outpatient mental health counseling center at our Augusta and Waterville Locations; community education programs; an Adoption Program with Birthparent Services, Home Studies, and Placement (infant and international); a Christmas Program; and a Summer Camp Scholarship Program (www.MaineChildrensHome.org).”

Overall, the walk was a success, a great time was had by all who were involved, and it was an excellent bonding experience for the brothers and alumni of Nu Chapter.
