From a sister at Kappa Xi Chapter of Kappa Delta Phi National Affiliated Sorority at Lyndon State College
Hello!
This is Melissa Sturtevant, sister from Kappa Xi. The Brothers of Xi Chapter of Kappa Delta Phi National Fraternity at Lyndon State College and Sisters of Kappa Xi Chapter of Kappa Delta Phi National Affiliated Sorority at Lyndon State College are beginning to undertake a philanthropy that means a lot to us, and we are hoping to make it a big success.
We ask your help. You all may have heard the story of Michelle Gardner-Quinn, a UVM student who was killed in October. This hit very close to home for us here in Vermont. She was very into environmental protection, something I am very concerned with as well. I presented to my chapter the idea of a bottle drive, with all proceeds going to a environmental foundation started by her friends and family, called Michelle’s earth foundation ( www.michellesearthfound.org ). This will benefit her cause in two ways: first, recycling all of these bottles, instead of having them just thrown away. Second, the money will go to the fund to help ensure Michelle's ideas for the future might be seen. So I ask of you, with Convention coming up in April, that all of your chapters might bring with you some bottles, even just a few, to help us with our cause. These bottles will mean so much more than just the 5 cent return. If you have any more questions, feel free to email me via http://www.kappatalk.com/contact (select Lyndon State College Community Service from the Category list).
Thank you all,
Melissa Sturtevant
