Kappa Delta Phi Awards Descriptions
The President's Cup
The President's Cup is awarded to the Chapter with the highest number of undergraduate members registered at Convention. The undergraduate members are multiplied by a mileage factor. The Cup is passed on at each Convention to the new winner. If won three consecutive times, the winning Chapter will be awarded a plaque and the Cup will remain in circulation.
The National Relations Award
This plaque is awarded to the Chapter with the highest number of registered Alumni Brothers at Convention. The same mileage factor used in determining the President's Cup is also used for this award. The plaque remains with the Chapter and a new plaque is presented at each Convention.
Dr. Edward A. Lincoln Display Award
This plaque is awarded to the Chapter with the most outstanding display of Fraternity materials at Convention, and is retained by the winning Chapter. Creativity, originality, traditionalism, graphics, and workmanship will be the influencing factors used to determine this award.
Dr. Franklin C. Roberts Philanthropy Award
This plaque is awarded to the Chapter which best exemplifies acts of philanthropy performed by the local Chapter for an individual, for their college, or the community. A certificate for this award will also be given to all Chapters who compete for this award. The application consists of a report on philanthropic activities. Please attach supporting materials (letters of thanks and appreciation from those who were helped).
Dr. Leonard W. Joll Scholarship Award
This plaque is awarded to the Chapter with the highest scholastic point average for fall semester only. The application consists of a cover letter indicating your Chapter and what award you are applying for, as well as an official transcript of all Brothers' averages, signed and stamped by the registrar. Remember, the grades are not the cumulative averages.
Edward F. Webber Scholastic Award
This plaque is awarded to the Brother who has obtained the highest scholastic point average for the September - December semester only. The application consists of a cover letter with the Brother's name and Chapter and an official transcript. Remember, this is not the cumulative average.
The Kappa Delta Phi Senior Scholarship
This Scholarship is offered to the one senior in the fraternity who has the highest cumulative point average. The cumulative point average of his freshman, sophomore and junior year determine his cumulative point average. The application must be sent to the Executive Director in October of the applicant's senior year. The winning senior also received the Key of Kappa Delta Phi Fraternity.
The Nahum Leonard Scholarship
This scholarship is granted to a brother of Kappa Delta Phi who has a cumulative average of 2.50 and has a definite financial need. The brother must be recommended by the chapter Executive Board and the application sent to the Executive Director. The application must be received by december 1st of each school year. The national board of Directors selects the recipient of this scholarship.
Kappa Delta Phi Distinguished Service Award Scholarship.
This scholarship consists of a certificate and cash award based upon the annual interest of the fund minus expenses. It is presented to an undergraduate Brother who has a cumulative point average of 2.0 or better, has a financial need, and who has demonstrated his dedication to the ideals of Kappa Delta Phi, not only within the Fraternity, but also beyond the confines of the brotherhood. The applicant is proposed by two-thirds vote of the undergraduate Chapter.
An appropriate application, signed by the president, as well as an official transcript and supportive materials indicating financial need, must be received by national not later than February 28th.
Applicants will be judged on the basis of service to the chapter, service to National, service to the community, as well as service to other entities.
Outstanding Chapter Award
In order to be eligible, a Chapter must:
- attend Summer Workshop
- attend the Fall Business Meeting (P.T.)
- attend Convention
- have Fall head tax paid by October 1
- have Fall new Brothers fees paid by December 1
- have Spring head tax paid by February 28
- emulate the Kappa ideals
- respect the Sorority at the National and local level
Leadership Awards for Chapter Presidents.
President must:
- attend the Fall Business Meeting (P.T.)
- attend the Spring Business Meeting
- see that Fall head tax is paid by October 1
- see that Fall new Brothers fees are paid by December 1
- see that Spring head tax is paid by February 28
- see that Spring new Brothers fees are paid by April 1
- foster positive relations with the Sorority
- does an outstanding job in leading the Chapter to accomplishing the National objectives and following National procedures
- emulates the Kappa ideals
Most Alumni Award
This plaque is presented to the Chapter with the most Alumni in attendance at the General Business Meeting. Positive ID required.
Most Active Award
This plaque is presented to the Chapter with the most undergrads in attendance at the General Business Meeting. Only those Brothers listed on KDP-101 and KDP-202 forms along with fees that are received no later than March 20 will be counted.
It is important to note that alumni and undergrads must be present at the General Business Meeting to qualify for awards based on attendance. There will be only one attendance check. Those who come in later will not be counted.
The Paul G. Collette Award for Excellence
This plaque is presented to the chapter that has improved the most from one Convention to the next.
